Yes! We are doing this again this year - a wonderful gingerbread man on a blue background. Wouldn't a picture be worth a thousand words? Sadly, I left my camera at DIYC today, but I promise to have an image up here soon!
In the meantime - how it works: you provide a handprint, and we'll do the rest! All custom painting and lettering is included in the price of $18.
It just takes me a moment to get handprints, and then in a few weeks you'll have your ornament ready for your tree, or ready to wrap and give to Gramma!

Thanksgiving Week Camp
You've asked and we're ready! We're hosting three fantastic sessions of Holiday camp before Thanksgiving.
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday (November 24, 25 and 26) we'll have camp from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. This camp is for anyone who is in first grade or older! We've got some great projects planned for each day. Campers will paint, work with clay, and fuse glass. The cost of each session is $45, but multiple session sign-up, or multiple-kid sign-ups, will save you $5 per session!
You can sign up for one, two or three different sessions - no project will be repeated! But we do promise that there will be lots of fun. Pack a lunch each day.
We'll have to limit these camps to 16 kids per session, so sign up early! Call the store or email us to grab your spots now!

Silver Clay for Christmas
As y'all know, I love my silver fingerprints of Henry. It has been the biggest treasure for me, and I can't believe that I've had them almost a year.
I really believe that silver fingerprints are so personal, and will make great Christmas gifts.
You never need a reservation for DIYC, but I am going to suggest that if you are coming to see me to make silver fingerprints, you might want to give the shop a heads-up phone call (205-868-4346). We want to give you the attention you need to create fantastic gifts, always, but the silver does require a bit more help that pottery or glass.
The good news is that it doesn't take very long - about 30 minutes the day you make it, about the same the day you pick it up to polish and antique, and it can be ready the next day!
The final deadline for silver clay will be December 22. And we are really good at helping hapless dads!

Ornaments for Everyone!
Looking for a chance to get some shopping done, while your children create fantastic gifts of their own?
We're having special morning "drop-off" times three Saturdays before Christmas - November 22, December 6 and December 13. Drop off your kids starting at 9:30, and pick them up by noon, and while you have that time to get all sorts of things done, your kids can check names off their list, too!
How? By painting ornaments! When you register your kids, you pick five ornaments that you would like for them to paint that day. (You may add more than that, but we want to know what you'd like for them to do, to make sure we have enough in stock that day.)
The cost is $30 per child for the five ornaments (plus a few goodies - we'll have a snack and play some Snowman Bingo to keep them entertained). We will limit this to 20 kids each session, and they must be pre-registered.
We ask that the children be at least in kindergarten, and no older than seventh grade.
The ornaments to pick from include:
Christmas Tree
Mitten
Star
Angel
Cross
"Flat Round" (this is a round ornament with a hanging tab at the top)
Stocking
You may also add a handprint plaque for $12.

Painting with Santa
WOO-HOO!!!! The big guy is coming back!
Tuesday, December 9, Santa and Mrs. Claus will be joining all of us jolly elves at Do*It*Yourself Crafts. His sleigh will arrive around 10 a.m., and he'll stay until 4 p.m. This is the third year Santa has had DIYC on his route, and we're so happy to have him.
Here are the details:
Each child will paint a "cookies for Santa" plate and a special ornament that is only available on this day. Additional children or additional painting options will be available - for instance, large plates for multiple handprints, more ornaments, etc. The basic price is $30 for the plate and ornament.
Additionally, we'll have the party room looking like the most awesome Santa's photo shop ever! Your kids can bring their list for Santa, and you can bring your camera, video recorder, whatever you need. We'll have a camera in case you forget, but there is no charge for pictures with Santa (just the pottery you paint that day).
We will begin accepting reservations for Santa now. You may call the store at 205-868-4346 and reserve your spot, or email me. We'll have limited spots for each half-hour slot from 9:30 a.m. until noon, and then again from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. We keep Santa in the afternoon for our friends in preschool and mother's day out, but also after "big" school, too!
Last year, my slots for the morning "sold out" soon, so let us know that you are coming ASAP!

How I almost lost it all, and how I've saved it now!
Okay, so let's talk backing up our files.
We all know we should, and I am willing to bet that y'all are about as good about it as I am. Which is to say: well intentioned, but it just doesn't happen.
Back in August, I almost lost everything. Every picture of Henry saved on the computer, every file for my business, marketing things, email addresses. EVERY PICTURE OF HENRY.
This isn't going to happen again. I signed up with an on-line back-up storage company. It has backed up my entire harddrive (all the pictures of Henry!) and automatically updates the backup if I make changes to my computer (more pictures).
If you are interested in what company I've used, and hearing about how easy it was for me - and getting a free month's use, email me and I'll email you a referal that will have all the information on it.
I have to say, the peace of mind I have now is priceless.
